Also, dioxins come from all types of factory wastes, commercial incineration, traffic pollution, industrial emissions, fires, and many other chemical and industrial processes. Tests show dioxins to be the most potent carcinogen known to man.</p>
<p>Research clearly shows that dioxins cause many serious diseases such as a kidney disease, birth defects, premature death, and a whole range of cancers.</p>
<p><span id="more-170"></span></p>
<p>Dioxins are very pervasive and get spread everywhere. They get carried by the weather, by rain and wind, and by ocean currents to all parts of the world. Dioxins then settle on land, pastures, and plants and become part of the food chain for animals and humans.</p>
<p>Dioxins do not come from pesticides or fertilizers - they come from the environment at large and even from the water supply. That is why dioxins are found in equal measure in organic and nonorganic food. But we can minimize the amount we get by avoiding certain foods high in dioxins.</p>
<p>On the whole, our bodies can deal with a low level of dioxins. Some will get excreted instead of being absorbed into the body to cause illness. To some extent we can reduce the level of dioxins we absorb by avoiding foods high in dioxins.</p>
<p>The question is: which food is highest in dioxins? Weight for weight, dairy milk has by far the highest amount of dioxins than any other food or drink. All mammals produce milk for feeding to their babies (including humans). The dioxins in the mother's body get concentrated in her breast milk. This occurs, because all nutrients (including dioxins) get concentrated in breast milk as a way of providing good rich nourishment to the new born.</p>
<p>This means human babies get concentrated dioxins from their mother's milk. Mercifully, a baby stops breastfeeding after a few months so the level of dioxins received by the baby drops off. Also, human milk has a lower concentration of dioxins compared to dairy milk.</p>
<p>But for a milk consumer it's a different story. Over time, the daily consumption of dairy milk results in a dangerous build up of dioxins in the body, causing below-par health, serious disease, and premature death.</p>
<p>There are plenty of studies showing that dairy milk has the highest concentration of dioxins compared to any other food product:</p>
<p>'Dioxins penetrate the environment via air, water and soil and are then incorporated in food chains. The major source of human exposure to dioxins (90%) is consumption of .dairy products.' (Professor Rocz Panstw, Zakl Hig, 1999, 50:3).</p>
<p>'The primary source of dioxins is food, especially .dairy products.' (Chemosphere, 1998 Oct, 37:9).</p>
<p>'The lipophilic nature of dioxins.may result in relatively high concentrations of dioxin contamination in dairy products.' (Journal of Animal Science, 1998 Jan, 76:1).</p>
<p>'Cows' milk is ideal for assessing levels because these compounds adhere to fat and are transferred to and eliminated in the milk of the lactating animal.' (Linda Fitzpatrick, Cork Harbour Alliance for a Safe Environment, 2005).</p>
<p>All types of dairy milk contain dioxins in varying amounts, including organic milk. But over eighty percent of organic milk sold in the world is UHT milk (Long Life milk). In the Americas and most of Europe just about all organic milk is UHT milk.</p>
<p>With UHT milk you get far more dioxins than regular pasteurized milk because more dioxins gets digested instead of being excreted. This happens because the micronized fat globules in UHT milk are much smaller than in non-UHT milk. As a consequence, more dioxins from the milk get into the bloodstream. <p>1) No liquid calories (with the exception of a post-workout drink).</p>
<p>Get rid of all the juices, the sodas, and the sports drinks. Liquid sugar is the last thing you need when you are trying to lose fat.</p>

<p>Limit your alcohol intake (and don't mix drinks, that is a double calorie bomb!).</p>
<p>2) No fast food.</p>
<p>Do not eat at fast food restaurants. Even if you choose what you think is healthy, remember this: Fast food restaurants are all about profit.</p>
<p>And in order to profit while giving you cheap, quick, and easy to prepare foods, the quality of the food ingredients will be poor-especially the protein.</p>
<p>If you want to be sure that the food you are eating is as good as it gets, then think about the option of preparing your own meals. There's no better way to be sure of what exactly you are eating.</p>
<p>Ok, i told you so, it will not be easy. But you'll feel the difference. Instead of the desire to have an afternoon nap at your desk you'll feel alert, full of energy. That food will be better, taste better, and...it will be healthier than any fast food you can buy in a fast food restaurant.</p>
<p>Make one small improvement to your nutrition everyday for the rest of your life.</p>
<p>3) Eat more fruits and vegetables.</p>
<p>The goal is to eat up to 10 servings per day. If you are eating 2 servings per day, then go up to 4 servings per day by the end of the week. Then go up to 5 servings per day.</p>
<p>Stick with fiber-rich fruits and vegetables - organic if possible.</p>
<p>Nuts are also a good choice, but not the roasted in oils ones (they may be source of trans fats). Stick to natural or dry-roasted nuts.</p>
<p>Don't panic...this small amount of nuts won't make you fat, but will fill you up and help you lose weight.</p>
<p>5) No pain, no gain.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Diabetes rates have soared in recent years, particularly in developed countries where junk diets and obesity have reached epidemic proportions. Diabetes is a terrible disease in which the body fails to control blood sugar levels (referred to as 'insulin resistance').</p>
<p>According to a 2007 study by the University of Cardiff in the UK, drinking a pint of milk a day may protect men against diabetes and heart disease. But upon closer examination of the research, the study has turned out to be flawed and without merit.</p>
<p><span id="more-166"></span></p>
<p>Jon Barron of The Baseline of Health Foundation makes the following five comments on this study:</p>
<p>1. The 20-year study, published in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health, analyzed how insulin resistance was affected by dairy milk consumption. According to the study, which tracked 2,375 men between the ages of 45 and 59 over a 20 year period, eating dairy products reduces the risk of insulin resistance. The more they consumed, the lower the risk.</p>
<p>2. Although the study looked at a decreased risk of insulin resistance with increased dairy consumption, it found little correlation between dairy consumption and the incidence of diabetes itself. In comparing the lowest milk consumers with the highest, it found only 7 more cases of diabetes among the lowest consumers, a statistically insignificant amount. The incidence of heart disease was not looked at in the study.</p>
<p>3. Also, people who had diabetes at the start of the study were excluded from the results so that we don't know if their condition improved or deteriorated while drinking milk. That would be significant information in determining the overall health value of dairy when it comes to metabolic syndrome.</p>
<p>4. Furthermore, the study only references the amount of milk and dairy products people were consuming, nothing else. If they're drinking more milk, they're drinking less of something else. Conversely, if they're drinking less milk, they're drinking more of something else. If that something else is soda pop, sugared energy drinks or coffee with sugar, that can be a major factor in the onset of insulin resistance.</p>
<p>5. In other words, the so-called health benefits attributed to milk in the study may have nothing to do with milk at all. They may instead be a reflection of lowered consumption of more harmful highly-sugared beverages. It sounds likely that the men drinking milk were eating an overall better diet, but the study doesn't tell us either way. In any case, without that information, the study is meaningless.</p>
<p>When you look at the research into diabetes there are many studies (too numerous to mention here) linking milk consumption with a higher incidence of diabetes, and there are virtually no studies suggesting that milk prevents diabetes.</p>
<p>In the book 'Nurturing Traditions' (1999), the author Sally Fallon makes the following comment:</p>
<p>'There is some evidence that pasteurization alters milk lactase (a form of sugar), making it more readily absorbable. This and the fact that pasteurized milk puts an unnecessary strain on the pancreas to produce digestive enzymes, may explain why milk consumption has been linked to diabetes'.</p>
<p>Other research confirms this. Lactose undergoes condensation and molecular changes as a result of heat treatment. Lactose in milk converts to glucose and galactose in the bloodstream. Over time, the constant drip feed of glucose into the bloodstream (from daily milk consumption) can create insulin resistance.</p>
<p>The risk of diabetes is even greater for organic milk consumers. This is so because most organic milk (over 80 percent) is sold as UHT milk. In the USA virtually all organic milk is UHT! The ultra high pasteurization temperature of UHT is double that of regular milk. This means that organic UHT milk is more likely to overburden the bloodstream with glucose, increasing the risk of diabetes.</p>

<p>Individually it probably won't as it is only a small scale thing but if many people feel the same way, it does have an effect on the lives of many animals. A diet made up largely of meat causes heart problems which are the most common causes of death in the United States and other meat consuming countries.</p>

<p>Meat, dairy produce and eggs are the main sources of cholesterol which are the contributing factors in coronary heart disease and other circulation problems. According to Earth Save, the average vegetarian has about a quarter of a chance of having a heart attack as the average person. On the other hand the numbers of heart attacks in vegans are an astonishing 10 times less than those of people that eat meat. In addition to heart health, you will get a number of other health benefits as a vegetarian.</p>
<p>For instance, you won't be exposed to nearly as many preservatives, which are common in meat and are linked to cancer. Of course vegetarians will not be exposed to the number of additional hormones that are fed to cattle as part of their feed and will not experience some of the hormone problems people have because of this. Some digestive conditions are claimed to be caused by a reaction to lactose which is avoided if you are a non-meat eater. On a more ethical note, you will be surprised how much less suffering in animals you will be responsible for by becoming a vegetarian.</p>
<p>Studies suggest that the average United States citizen will consume more than two thousand seven hundred animals throughout their life. Even a single person could, in the space of a few decades, save the lives of many hundreds of animals which would have been killed for food. Continuing along this line and by giving up eggs and milk, many hens and cows will be saved from the degradation of just being alive to feed us.</p>
<p>After the information you have read here it would be difficult to say no to becoming a vegetarian wouldn't it? An improvement in your overall health with less chance of cancer or a heart condition and the reduction of animal deaths provide a compelling argument.</p>

<p>Some believers remained undaunted by these negative findings. Over the next decade pau d'arco was successfully used to treat arthritis, infections, skin problems, malaria, fevers, and even some cancers. Was the Cancer Institute wrong in its research? No, the research was not wrong, but it was inadequate for two reasons.</p>
<p><span id="more-159"></span></p>
<p>First, the testing had been done on an isolated ingredient in pau d'arco called lapachol. Those using it effectively found that taking the whole herb eliminated the unwanted side effects. Second, further research found that pau d'arco contained over 20 active ingredients that worked together to bring about its proven benefits.</p>
<p>So what's so good about this herb that no one can pronounce? In large doses, it is excellent for reducing inflammation and other immune responses. Therefore, it is used to treat arthritis, ulcers, skin problems, allergies, and the like. In small doses it increases immune responses. Pau d'arco's trophy case contains success stories in treating diabetes, lupus, flu, skin diseases, parasites, malaria, yeast infections, tuberculosis, strep, and dysentery. It does indeed sound like a miracle drug!</p>
<p>Pau d'arco is a bark, but it can also be purchased as a tincture or a capsule. One to two capsules or drops of tincture taken up to four times a day is a usual dosage. The amount, of course, depends on the patient and the condition.</p>
<p>The most common way to ingest this herb is through making a tea which has a cool, bitter flavor. A tablespoon of the bark boiled for twenty minutes in three cups of water will extract its nutrients. (Do not use an aluminum pan for this.) On cup of this tea taken three or four times a day would be a maximum dosage. Normally half this amount is sufficient.</p>
<p>Pregnant and nursing women should not use pau d'arco until it is sufficiently researched. Pau d'arco has been shown to have blood-thinning actions in some people, and may cause anemia when used long term. Possible side effects from ingesting too much pau d'arco include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, and stomach cramps. Another precaution consumers should heed is assuring that the product they purchase is produced by a reputable manufacturer. Some tested have very few active ingredients. The pau d'arco imported from Argentina is generally considered to be the highest quality bark.</p>
